cities in the great state of Texas that is privileged to have local non-profit organizations supporting and advocating energy saving initiative
at all levels of government.

Incentives
Two of our local utility
providers in an effort to help our community lower their utility
bills, as well as to decrease the ever growing demand on local
resources has initiated several rebate programs.
San
Antonio Water Systems rebate programs:
- S.A.W.S.

State and
Federal Incentives
The state of Texas offers
several renewable energy incentives to it citizens and corporations such
as property tax and franchise tax exemptions. For more incentives
and details, please follow the web links below.
The Federal government credits
back 10% of the total investment on any renewable energy equipment such
as solar air conditioning, solar space heat, solar electricity and solar
hot water. In addition to the above renewable investment, the
federal government gives a 10% tax credit on insulation purchases to reduce heat loss and air
condition leakage. Home-office businesses can also claim this 10%
tax credit in proportion to the office space square footage. To claim this tax credit use IRS form 3468.

Businesses can recover the their
investment in renewable energy equipment within five years of the
purchase through the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System
depreciation method. In addition to the above depreciation method,
businesses can also depreciate 50% of the investment cost within the first
year. Please see your accounting and tax experts to see if you
qualify for any of these tax benefits.
